About

I am a PhD student in biomedical sciences with a background in biotechnology and a strong interest in cancer biology and translational research. My academic journey has taken me from India to Italy, where I am pursuing my PhD at the European School of Molecular Medicine (SEMM), with my research based at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Genoa, in the Grimaldi Lab, as part of the Molecular Medicine Research Line. My PhD research focuses on the development and characterization of small molecules targeting non-coding RNAs, with a particular interest in microRNAs relevant to cancer. I use a range of molecular and cellular biology approaches to investigate RNA–small molecule interactions, miRNA regulation, and their functional consequences in cancer models, with the broader aim of exploring RNA as a therapeutic target.

Beyond my individual PhD project, I also contribute to ongoing research and collaborative projects within the lab that explore diverse disease-relevant mechanisms and therapeutic strategies. This broader involvement allows me to gain experience across different experimental approaches and research questions, while contributing to the lab's overall goal of translating mechanistic insights into new pharmacological and therapeutic opportunities. As I progress through my PhD, I hope to deepen my understanding of cancer biology, develop innovative research approaches, and contribute to biomedical research with the potential to make a real difference to human health.
